Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
April 21st, 2025 by Miranda

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve last table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best bettors around the world. While betting on net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full dollar value. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players anywhere in the world might be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found competing in online poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in high stakes omaha hold’em and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
