Web High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
March 19th, 2016 by Miranda

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve last table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest players around the world. While playing internet poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus frequently buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amount. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest players in the world could be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen playing online poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes Omaha and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in money games?
