Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
February 23rd, 2019 by Miranda

Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the last table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest bettors in the world. While playing web poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has no reason to settle at the game with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amount. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world might be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
