Right Before you Tilt
June 3rd, 2021 by Miranda

Ah, the poker tilt. If a poker enthusiast states never to have stared faced down the shadow of a looming steam – they’re either lying or they have not been betting long enough. This does not mean of course that everyone has gone on steam before, a few people have great willpower and take their losses as a defeat and leave it at that. To be a brilliant poker player, it is especially critical to appraise your wins and your defeats in a similar way – with no emotion. You compete in the match in the same manner you did after taking a tough beat as you would after winning a great hand. Many of the poker pros are not tempted by tilting after a bad beat as they are very seasoned and you should be to.

You must be certain that you will not win every hand you are in, regardless if you are the front runner. Hands which typically cause players to go on tilt are hands you were the favored or at least thought you were until you were rivered and you squandered a large chunk of your bankroll. Bad beats are going to develop. Face that certainty right now, I will say it again – if your brother enjoys cards, if your father enjoys cards, if your grandpa plays cards – They have all had bad beats sometime. It is an unavoidable effect of competing in Texas Holdem, or in reality any type of poker.

Seeing as we are assumingly (most of us) in the game for a single purpose – to acquire $$$$, it certainly makes sense that we will play accordingly to maximize our profit potential. Now let us say you are up one hundred dollars off of a 100 dollars deposit, and you take a big blow in a NL game and your bankroll is only has remaining $120. You’ve lost $80 in a round where you were certain to pick up $200two hundred dollars when you went all-in on the flop and had a 10 – 1 advantage. And that amateur! He bled you dry on the river? – Well stop right here. This is a classic opportunity for a fresh player to begin tilting. They just lost too much $$$$ on one hand that they really should have won and they are pissed
